Orange Spiced Pecans

Preheat oven to 250.

Combine 4 egg whites (beaten slightly) with ½ cup orange juice.  Add 4 cups pecan halves and stir around.

Separately, mix together:

  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • dash of ground allspice
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup grated orange peel
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cloves
  • dash of salt

Pour this over the pecans and stir to combine.

Spread mixture in a single layer on a greased cookie sheet and bake 30  minutes.  Stir with a spatula, loosening any stuck bits.  Continue to cook another 30-60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes until dry and crumbly.

Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
